OnePlus 12 vs iQOO 12 performance comparison: the faster flagship?

The OnePlus 12 (review) and iQOO 12  (review) are official in India, and both smartphones rock Qualcomm’s 4nm-based Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. While both smartphones can run heavy games (including BGMI and Genshin Impact) and handle demanding tasks without stutters, there’s one that does the job better. Mind you, this is despite having similar storage and RAM configurations.

Read on to know whether the OnePlus 12 outperforms iQOO 12 or vice versa.

Geekbench v6

Despite enabling the performance mode, the OnePlus 12 is behind iQOO 12 in Geekbench’s single-core and multi-core tests. You can notice a gap in both cores’ results.

The results suggest that the iQOO 12 can handle running multiple apps simultaneously better. However, we also need to consider efficiency. More on that in the next section.

AnTuTu

Even in the AnTuTu benchmark, which evaluates CPU and GPU performances, iQOO 12 is ahead of the OnePlus 12. The test points out that both smartphones consumed more or less the same amount of battery.

However, the iQOO 12 generated more heat than the OnePlus 12 to fetch this score.

CPU Throttle

The CPU throttle, which is a stress on the chipset, points out that the iQOO 12 provides slightly more stable performance under immense stress. We ran the test by increasing the threads to 50 for 30 minutes.

Gaming

While benchmarks provide objective results with numbers, differences in real life get difficult to distinguish. As mentioned, the OnePlus 12 and iQOO 12 can run games, including BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India), Asphalt 9, Genshin Impact, GTA III, and Call of Duty, without stutters.

BGMI can also run at the highest settings on the OnePlus 12 and iQOO 12. Moreover, both smartphones can elevate the experience by enabling 4D touch and more via the native gaming hub.

The iQOO 12 offered a relatively better gaming experience while maintaining a high refresh rate. Issues related to mistouches were also more prominent on the OnePlus 12 due to its curved display.

Verdict

Benchmarks and gaming tests point out that the iQOO 12 is ahead of the OnePlus 12 despite rocking the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. However, not everyone necessarily prioritises gaming while making decisions. In that case, the OnePlus 12 might be better suited for productivity-focused users. Here are some things you need to remember:

  • The OnePlus 12 offers better battery backup, thanks to a chunkier 5,400mAh battery unit.
  • The OnePlus 12 also offers a clean Android 14 experience out-of-the-box. The iQOO 12 includes some additional pre-installed apps that cannot be removed.
  • The iQOO 12 offers 120W charging (charger included in the box). However, the OnePlus 12 supports 50W AirVOOC wireless charging (only with a proprietary charger).
  • The OnePlus 12’s price in India starts at Rs 64,999. The iQOO 12 costs Rs 52,999 for the base 12GB and 256GB storage variant.
