Fresh Google Pixel Fold 2 renders confirm new camera design, larger displays

Highlights
  • Google Pixel Fold 2 might come with a redesigned camera module.
  • The overall form factor is also similar to the OnePlus Open.
  • Here’s a look at what could be the possible design of the Pixel Fold 2.

We saw a glimpse of what could be the Pixel Fold 2 earlier this month. Now 5K CAD-based renders of the Pixel Fold 2 have surfaced online, and it looks like this might actually be the design Google is going for. The first Pixel Fold launched at the Google I/O conference last year. We’re expecting to see the second-gen foldable phone from Google later this year.

Google Pixel Fold 2 renders leaked online

  • A set of fresh renders of the Pixel Fold 2 were shared by SmartPrix and OnLeaks giving us a good look at the foldable’s possible design.
  • It’s a compact foldable phone with the inner screen measuring 7.9 inches, while the cover screen is 6.4 inches. There’s a punch-hole selfie on top of the cover display, and inside it’s placed on the right corner of the display.
  • Going by these measurements, we might see larger displays on the Pixel Fold 2 but the overall form factor is said to be slim.
  • The rear camera setup has gone through a big change with a rectangular-shaped camera module on the top-left corner. The report says it’s a triple camera setup with several sensors. The first leak suggest four sensors in total with the last one not known yet but could be the temperature sensor like the Pixel 8 Pro or some other sensor.
  • The USB-C port, speaker grill, microphone, and SIM tray are all placed on the bottom. The power and volume buttons are placed on the right side.

Overall, the Pixel Fold 2 is expected to feature a larger form factor but in a thin body. It’s also said to look similar to the OnePlus Open thereby going for a more compact foldable look. For now this is the design predicted for the Pixel Fold 2 but there could be more changes in the final product.

Google is also rumoured to skip the Tensor G3 and opt for the unannounced Tensor G4 chipset for the Pixel Fold 2. This suggests we might see the Pixel Fold 2 launch alongside the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro later this year. But there’s speculation that it might debut at Google I/O 2024 as well.
